Terra Feminarum, a danmaku shmup that draws from elements of Finnish folklore for its story, will have players acting as one of three shaman that are fighting to restore the dimming northern lights.
Terra Feminarium takes the players through several places from Finnish mythology, taking them from Kalevala to the frigid, evil lands of Pohjola as they seek the source of the dimming northern lights. Players will choose one of three shaman to take this journey, shooting their way across seven story chapters that will run them across many myth-inspired settings.
Terra Feminarium will have players picking up mana from fallen enemies to power their shaman’s most powerful attacks, weaving in between enemy shots to pick up the precious resource. Players will also be able to enhance their character by defeating bosses or completing in-game challenges, offering them another way to gain power.
Terra Feminarium looks to offer a wide array of songs as players shoot down foes, running from waltzes to black metal, constantly shifting the game’s musical tone throughout.
A demo for Terra Feminarium is available now through Itch.io, with the full game coming some time this year.
