It’s been a couple weeks since the Japanese release of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the 3DS remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, which has been doing pretty well in sales last we saw.

While we’re still waiting on several Fire Emblem titles down the line with Fire Emblem Warriors and a new entry scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch next year, series producer Hitoshi Yamagami said in the latest issue of Dengeki Nintendo that it’ll likely be the last mainline Fire Emblem game on 3DS. [Thanks, Japanese Nintendo.]

Fire Emblem Echoes will become the third game from the series on 3DS following Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates. Fire Emblem Warriors will also release in a 3DS version alongside its Switch version, but this tells us that Intelligent Systems is ready to move on.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia releases in North America and Europe on May 19, 2017 for Nintendo 3DS.
