On January 24 Lumines fans can snag the Heavenly Star skin for Lumines Live for free. Heavenly Star was an original song produced by Q Entertainment and has a stylized skin that looks like A-ha’s “Take on Me” video. Over Xbox Live you can enjoy playing the skin in 5.1 surround sound and watch the video in HD. It’s going to be released for free from January 24 – February 21, 2007 for Xbox Live gold members so go grab it this Wednesday. Microsoft also announced that the VS CPU pack and the Puzzle/Mission pack will be sold for a mere 100 MS points ($1.20) from January 24 – February 21, 2007. The VS CPU pack adds in extra character designs and a new mode similar to the online battle mode, except the computer is your opponent. The Puzzle/Mission pack adds in 90 puzzles to solve and 40 missions to clear. After February 21 the price for both packs will be raised to 300 MS Points. The cheap prices and free bonus skin shows that Microsoft has been listening to the voices of gamers who weren’t happy about Lumines Live being sold in pieces. Kudos to Microsoft for responding to the complaints by releasing the extra packs for next to nothing. Still in question is the fate of the Lumines Live Artist Pack with Madonna’s song "Sorry". If it’s a single skin, maybe we will get that for free too.
