Animal Gods is a new top-down 2D action-RPG in which you adopt the role of Thistle, a young priest and agile hunter from an ancient age.

“Thistle’s journey will take her to tall mysterious forests, fields of stone and even discover a lost world,” reads the description. “Set in a ravaged ancient European setting, our hero sets out to stop an arcane cult’s leader and release the cursed Gods of old.” The titular gods that she aims to free have been lost to the toxic fumes of a great bronze industry.

Inspired by classic action-RPGs, Animal Gods is said to focus on precise, fast-paced action as you explore dungeons in a non-linear world. Thistle’s weapon set includes the Rift Bow, Flame Cloak, and the Sword of Wind. You have to use their individual powers to overcome each foe and environmental challenge.

Animal Gods will be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux on October 12th via Steam and its website. It’ll also be coming to Wii U at a later date.
