The version 1.20 patch that adds PvP multiplayer to Freedom Wars will either be released at launch or shortly thereafter, Sony said in a comment on the PlayStation Blog, when fans enquired as to its status.

“The base game (the version at retail and originally downloaded from the store) will be equivalent to the JP 1.11 release – meaning that online co-op and ranking will most definitely be there,” said Sony Computer Entertainment’s Nick Accordino.

He added, “Patch 1.20 (the current JP version) is on the way – we’re hoping to have it released by Day 1. 1.20 contains the online PVP and a few other tweaks, so we hope you’re looking forward to it!”

Freedom Wars will be released on October 28th in North America and October 31st in Europe.
