One game is about a group of youths who transform using armaments to protect their city from beasts, and the other is loosely based on historic heroes of the Sengoku era in the history of feudal Japan. Capcom’s new IP, Gaist Crusher, will feature a special Gaist in the form of Sengoku Basara’s Date Masamune.

The trailer starts out with a look at Gaist Crusher’s protagonist Recca Shirogane, who encounters the Tekkou Ryujin, a dragon-type Gaist that appears in Steel City. After showing off some of the game’s monsters and a look at the armament system in action, we also get a look at the “Extreme Form” feature, that powers up our heroes by turning them into beasts, themselves.

Using the armament, weapons, and transformation, will be your key to success in Gaist Crusher. Additionally, players will get to team up with buddies or even fight against them, as part of the game’s multiplayer features.

Towards the end of the trailer, we hear a familiar voice say “Are you ready guys?” one of Sengoku Basara’s Date Masamune’s many quirky English catchphrases.

While Date Masamune won’t be sending hundreds of bodies flying in Gaist Crusher, the collaboration with Sengoku Basara 4 will instead have the “One-Eyed Dragon” as an actual dragon-type Gaist monster, called “Jet Masamune”. Upon defeating the dragon, you can acquire a special Date Masamune armament, fully decked out with his six swords “Dragon’s Claws” as set weapon.

Gaist Crusher is slated for release this winter on Nintendo 3DS. Check out our hands-on impressions straight from Tokyo Game Show here.
