Mihoyo shared details about how its new Genshin Impact A Study in Potions event will work. Once again, it will involve taking a team of characters into a challenge to defeat enemies. Performing well earns you medals. These, in turn, can be redeemed for Genshin Impact staples like Primogems, Mora, and Hero’s Wit items. As long as someone hit Adventure Rank 30 and beat both acts of the Chapter 1 Archon Quest, they can take part.
Here’s how A Study in Potions will work in Genshin Impact. After you talk with Timaeus and kick off “Elixirs and Potions,” you can head to a limited domain in Liyue. There, you’ll find three trials. These will be called Dusty Wrack, Sealed Ruins, and Solitary Rampart. These unlock on January 7, 2022, January 9, 2022, and January 11, 2022. Each one has Accurate Sample and Strong Control Group difficulty options, which increase the challenge and the score multiplier that determines how many medals you earn. They also each have four floors.
When you take on a floor and challenge, you need to make two decisions. First, you set your party. You can use your own characters. However, there will also be four additional characters you can “borrow” to use. Characters will enter a standby phase after being used, to keep you from repeatedly using the same allies. Also, if you mix and match your own characters and offered ones, you can’t trigger elemental resonances. You can also equip up to three Smoldersleet Potions to add buffs. Completing challenges earns you bronze, silver, and gold medals. These can be traded for Genshin Impact Hero’s Wit experience items, Mora, Mystic Enhancement Ores for weapons, Primogems, Talent Level-Up Materials for characters, and Weapon Ascension Materials for weapons.
Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch. Its Shenhe and Xiao banners are available now. The A Study in Potions Genshin Impact event will run January 7-17, 2022.
