Genshin Impact Misty Dungeon is Good for Newcomers

The Genshin Impact Misty Dungeon event is back again. Which means one of the more enlightening activities is around. While this is a fun and rewarding affair for anyone, it’s especially good for newcomers to the game. This is because Misty Dungeon: Realm of Light offers an opportunity to sample some of the best five-stars in the game, at their best and in controlled conditions. Not to mention its Adventure Rank 20 requirement isn’t terribly intimidating.

For those who’ve never participated in a Misty Dungeon event, it isn’t terribly challenging. You pick a party of four pre-built characters. The game then takes you to dungeon. You have 30 minutes to activate its three runes, then face the final group of enemies. Along the way, you can collect optional buffs or take on extra challenges to heal your party or get additional perks. There are two objectives per trial, each offering Primogems, character building materials, and Mora.

However, what makes it special is the way it is constructed. For example, you don’t take in your usual party. Once you select a trial, at least six potential allies appear. Of them, two will be five-stars characters. So say the Thundershock Trial offered the Raiden Shogun and Tartaglia (aka Childe) as the two five-stars, with the four-stars Barbara, Beidou, Kujou Sara, Sucrose, and Xingqiu to round out the available options. Windswept Trial had Kazuha and Keqing as its five-stars, with Barbara, Fischl, Kujou Sara, and Xingqiu rounding the group out. Given the pity rate guarantees a five-star character after 90 pulls, people might not have one aside from the Aloy and the Traveler! So right away, the Genshin Impact Misty Dungeon stands out because it is giving you access to these people. You might not play as them otherwise. And because you get this chance, it might make someone think, “Okay, I like this person. I will save up for when their rerun banner appears.”

It is also a fantastic opportunity to really learn how well elemental reactions work in Genshin Impact. Each trial is designed to take advantage of certain ones. The aforementioned Thundershock Trial? It is all about taking advantage of electro-charged. When Electro and Hydro are both inflicted on an enemy, it deals Electro DMG to foes. To encourage you to trigger that reaction more, the Ley Line Disorder for that dungeon reduces cooldowns and restores energy when you inflict that and increases the damage it does. The Windswept Trial? That’s about encouraging the Swirl reaction that kicks up whenever Anemo interacts with another element. The Ley Line Disorder in that one increases attack whenever a Swirl reaction of any kind occurs. On top of that, we have weapon systems that are connected to additional elements and fire out damage. Which in turn teaches you, “Hey, this is dangerous! Fire burns! Electricity shocks!” Also, the Freezing Trial in particular is a harsh reminder of how much being frozen around Abyss Mages suck and how frustrating it is that Hydro Samachurl’s healing rain is so effective.

But above all, there’s the thrill of it. With the way Misty Dungeon works in Genshin Impact, you’re getting characters at their best. Each one’s build is optimal. This means even if you aren’t sure how to take advantage of their moveset, you can still feel like a powerhouse. That means dealing thousands of points worth of damage even when messing around. You’re really seeing what they can do. You’re also firsthand experiencing the payoff that comes from making that investment.

In short, the Genshin Impact Misty Dungeon: Realm of Light event is one of the more helpful ones. It might not be a boon for earning tons of Primogems. (Each trial’s total objectives dole out 60 of them.) You won’t come away with fun accessories or furniture. But it does guarantee valuable experiences. People are seeing what characters they might not get unless you’re paying real money are like. They’re learning how elemental reactions work. Not to mention participants see what investing in a character can lead to. It ends up being educational and entertaining.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch. The Misty Dungeon: Realm of Light Genshin Impact event will run until December 27, 2021.
