Shoujo Jigoku is Nippon Ichi Software’s newest action RPG title. Character designs for the game are being done by Madoka Hanashiro. Previously, Hanashiro worked on Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors and The Witch and The Hundred Knight 2.

Now, let’s dive into Hanashiro’s newly released character art and learn a bit more about some of the story’s girls.

First up is the Doku Musume, or the “Poison Maiden”, voiced by Manami Numakura.

The Poison Maiden’s true name is unknown and, like many protagonists in RPGs, she suffers from amnesia. She will partner with the protagnost to purify the poison marshes in Hell. These dangerous marshes are born from negative thoughts and feelings. Monsters spawn from these too.

Additionally, the game features a character known only as “The Girl in Mourning Garb”, who will be voiced by Tomo Kawakami. She wears a uniform like outfit and seems to be human, just like the Poison Maiden. However, she came to Hell for personal reasons that will be explored in the story.

Famitsu has also provided a look at four of the girls whose personal Hells you’ll explore in Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume. At this time, their voice actors haven’t been revealed. Additionally, there’s no further information regarding how many girls the Poison Maiden must purify in total.

First, there’s Ayumi Mori, a girl whose reality turned to ashes. Ayami experienced something “horrible” at school, but has kept it secret from her family. Like erasing marks with an eraser, she wishes she could change everything and turn it all to ash.

Second, we have Mahoro Hiiragi, a girl who died before she could fulfill her promise to her friend. Interestingly, her hell appears to have newspapers and print as a key design element. Additionally, she has a notebook and pencil as part of her design, which matches the newprint motif.

Next, there’s Misao Mizuki, a girl with a fondness for erotic books. In her Hell, clearing poison marshes will reveal sensual illustration beneath them. It seems that there’s a connection between Misao and the pictures.

The final girl is Yoshie Nanasaki, a girl who’s fascinated by a curse. Somehow, she obtained a cursed grimoire known as the “Cursed Black Book.” Within her Hell, the hero and the Poison Maiden will face many monsters. Her design gives her a gloomy, mysterious vibe.

Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume will come to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on June 25, 2020.
