GiGO Akihabara Arcade Building 4 Will Close in September 2022

In its press release, the company noted that its lease agreement with the building owner is expiring. The company decided to shut down the arcade facility without renewing the lease. It will also move any services the facility is handling, such as Ichiban Kuji lotteries, to the No. 5 building.

The outgoing facility’s Twitter account shared a map showing the company’s arcade facilities in Akihabara. The number 2 does not exist because Sega closed its Akihabara No. 2 building in late August 2020. Following the closures of the No. 2 and 4 buildings, there will be no more Sega/GiGO arcade centers located south of the Akihabara Station. While No. 1, 3, and 5 are still active for the time being, all of them are situated north of the station.

For the record, GiGO arcade centers used to have the Sega name in the past. Genda announced the gradual acquisition of Sega Entertainment in December 2020, which it completed in early 2022 by renaming Sega’s arcade centers to GiGO.

GiGO Akihabara No. 4 will close on September 25, 2022. Genda GiGO Entertainment still has the No. 1, 3, and 5 arcade centers in active operation for the foreseeable future.
