Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is being released for the PlayStation Vita in North America tomorrow, and Guilty Gear Project Coordinator Takeshi Yamanaka has shared a few tidbits of info on the game at the PlayStation Blog.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R will run at an aspect ratio of 4:3, Yamanaka says, despite the Vita’s screen having a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9.

“We did some research and played around with the camera to maximize the screen real-estate, but during all of our tests, the essence of Guilty Gear’s fighting style, which was, ‘Knock your opponent down, and go for the okizeme’ was inherently lost in the transition,” Yamanaka explains. “We made the executive decision to keep the game in its native 4:3 resolution.”

Yamanaka also briefly touches upon balance changes, mentioning that weaker characters have been given more weapons and options in this update, and that higher-tier characters have been adjusted as well.
