A tentacled protagonist explores a shadowy land of monsters, a gun clinging to their suckers, in sidescroller NetherWorld.
NetherWorld offers an extensive amount of bleak landscapes and worn cities for players to explore, each filled with dark monsters they can stop to chat with. Many of the player’s interactions with them can end in good or bad ways, letting players make some sickening buddies along their journey, or upset a series of potentially dangerous creatures.
Players will also come across wastelands and caverns filled with creatures who aren’t so inclined to talk, and can handle their interactions with them with handguns and shotguns, as well as melee weapons should something crawl a little too close. These weapons will be sufficient to deal with regular foes, but other, larger boss monsters will all feature their own mechanics, forcing players to learn tricky ways to fight these huge beasts.
NetherWorld looks to mingle cuteness and an unsettling nature with its amorphous creatures and art style. It also promises an emphasis on story as players meet its various denizens and decide what kind of relationship they want to have with them.
NetherWorld is due to release in 2018.
