Gunstar Heroes On XBLA Has A Hidden Gunstar Heroes: Treasure Box Feature

The Sega Ages: Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box included a neat feature. You can choose to play the Japanese or “International” version of Gunstar Heroes. With a little trickery you can do the same thing with the Xbox Live Arcade version too.

If you set your system language settings to Japanese you can play the Japanese version of Gunstar Heroes, which still has English text. The trick might be more relevant to Phantasy Star II. Set English as your console’s language and you play the North American version. Pick Japanese and you load the Japanese version which has some minor script differences.

If Sega ever decides to release Streets of Rage III as a Vintage Collection game this trick could be used to fight Ash, a boss that was cut from the US version.
