Players will become part of a band of sniper badgers, warriors with pistols, assassins, and rapier-swinging valkyries, guiding them through a story of growing war and into battle. Each of these characters can be customized through the equipment they wear, giving them a wide range of attack types and defensive boosts based on what they wear. Knowing what equipment to put on will be key in most battles, so players will need to know how to dress or arm themselves to win a battle.

In this, knowing the monsters they will come across will also be important. Each foe in Grimshade has been carefully crafter to challenge players, forcing them to learn their ranges and attack styles so that they can build a plan to counter them. Once players learn how a monster works, they can equip themselves and choose the proper characters to bring into a battle to overcome the monster’s capabilities. This is especially important in dungeons, where players will have to do deal with many battles and situations in one run.

When not in a fight, players will be able to explore a world of striking locations and varied people. There are many characters to meet and places to wander, all created with hand-drawn artwork that is meant to make the land feel lived in.

Grimshade is currently raising development funding on Kickstarter.
