Healing Process: Tokyo is about finding peace of mind around Tokyo. It’ll follow a skilled surgeon and recent widower called Charles Russell as he battles with depression and tries to overcome it.
The idea is to guide Charles around a simulated version of Tokyo as he takes a day’s leave from his stressful job in order to redeem himself. It’s necessary as his personal problems have been affecting his work and resulted in several failed operations.
As you explore the game’s various areas, you’ll be able to have Charles make new friends, all of which helps to have him battle his inner demons. Later, you’ll sit down with Charles and his therapist to pick out his biggest fears and regrets.
“This journey aims to explore a multitude of well developed characters and thought evoking themes that will be grounded in extensive real world research and interviews with doctors, and victims of depression,” writes the game’s director Sam L. Jones.
Healing Process: Tokyo is due to come out in 2016 if it has a successful Kickstarter. You can find out more about the rewards available in the Kickstarter on the game’s website. It’s also available to vote for on Steam Greenlight.
