Remember Hover: Revolt of Gamers? It’s been quite a while since the game’s development team shared any status updates on the Jet Set Radio-inspired project, but recently they’ve begun sending an alpha build of the game out to their Kickstarter backers.
The alpha version will allow you to play in the game’s large futuristic town, Hover City. You’ll be tasked by the Resistance with retrieving “Gameballs” that have been confiscated from the population and bringing them to checkpoints scattered throughout the city. If you get spotted along the way, you’ll have security drones sent after you.
You’ll also need to destroy the many anti-videogame holograms scattered throughout Hover City, and some of these have been placed rather high up, and you’ll need to play skilfully to reach them. These and other challenges present in the alpha build will be playable both in singleplayer and multiplayer, and in any order. Completing missions will earn experience points which can be used to customize your skills.
If you’d like to see the game in action, Gamers Evolved have uploaded 13 minutes of HD footage from the Hover: Revolt of Gamers alpha, which you can watch above.
