Sony Computer Entertainment Japan commemorates Final Fantasy and Metal Gear franchise 25th anniversaries with none other than super detailed bento.

Before presenting their bento, Metal Gear producer Hideo Kojima and Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase had a few words to share in memory of their past 25 years with their respective companies.

Hideo Kojima:  "25 years ago, I would’ve never dreamed of the Metal Gear series going this far. Especially after having to focus on other projects, during my earlier years. When the PlayStation was released, I was able to make Metal Gear Solid the true Hide and Seek game I’ve always wanted to make. We’ve been with PlayStation ever since, and I’d like to thank them for the opportunity and everything else. Best of luck to us all for a successful future"

Yoshinori Kitase: “I was actually a Final Fantasy player back in my college years, 25 years ago. I recall admiring the visuals and being moved by the touching stories. Five years later, I became the producer for that same Final Fantasy series, that I’ve always loved. 20 years has gone by since then, and till this day, I still remember the feelings I had back then. I’d like to continue sharing that experience with today’s players.

Now, for some bento!

Metal Gear’s set has Old Snake, Naked Snake and Raiden as the main part, with cardboard box shaped inarizushi for the bottom. Even the food connoisseur, Hideo Kojima, was astounded by the quality of the Metal Gear themed bento!

After presenting the Bento, the guests of honor shared some thoughts on each other’s work, before eating up the beautifully crafted masterpieces.

Yoshinori Kitase on Metal Gear:

“I fully respect Hideo Kojima and his cinematic talents, seen in his games. I even find myself being jealous at times! My own son really liked Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, I would jokingly tell him that it made me sad and that he should play my games instead!”

Hideo Kojima in response to Final Fantasy:

“Thank you! I’ve always been impressed by the artistic side of Final Fantasy. Everything about it, including the title screens are beautiful. Not to take anything away from Sony Computer Entertainment, but I believe that Final Fantasy definitely played a big role in helping them rise to the top, and set a standard for their games. We’d like to do our best and keep up as well”
