Hidetaka Suehiro, also known as Swery or Swery65, the man behind Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, recently opened a new studio by the name “White Owls.”
Swery was previously working for Access Games as one of the founding members of the Osaka-based game developer. During his time with Access Games, he worked on titles such as Spy Fiction, Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjo no Kizuna Portable, Deadly Premonition, Lord of Arcana, Lord of Apocalypse, and his latest title D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die was made in partnership with Microsoft.
White Owls is a small company that started out in November 1, 2016, and is based in Osaka, Japan. Their slogan is “From Osaka to all of YOU around the World,” and they’ll aim to create completely unique things that no one has ever seen before, according to Swery’s greetings from the CEO message on the developer’s official website.
He also shares more about the meaning behind the name ‘White Owls’:
In Ancient Greece, owls were called sages of the forest, and thought to be servants of Athena (Minerva), the goddess of wisdom.
Their eyes can pierce the darkness, and their ears can hear sound in 3D. Their wings allow them to silently catch their prey, and their powerful claws can effortlessly tear through even the toughest of bodies. There is also an Albino species of owl clad in sheer white fur which possesses an especially mystic quality.
We at White Owls hope to keep growing until we can someday evolve into a similar type of mystical entity.
We’ve only barely taken our first breath, but we hope you’ll keep an eye on us as we embark along our journey.
