Is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 PS5 upgrade free?

The PS5 upgrade for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 leverages the console’s powerful hardware to deliver improved graphics and performance. Players can expect higher-resolution visuals, better textures, and more detailed environments. Additionally, the game benefits from faster load times, thanks to the PS5’s SSD, reducing the wait time when transitioning between different areas or starting a new mission.

The best part? The upgrade will be completely free for owners of the PS4 version. If it’s anything like past Dragon Ball upgrades on PS5, you’ll need to download the PS5 version when it becomes available. Not only that, but your save data will also be transferrable. This ensures that players who have invested considerable time and effort into their character progression, story completion, and item collection can continue their journey seamlessly on the new console. This is particularly appreciated by long-time fans who do not want to start over from scratch.

Typically, this is done through an in-game menu, so hold onto your saves until you’re able to boot up the PS5 version. Also, in past Dragon Ball games, the PS5 trophies auto-popped after transferring your saves. It doesn’t always mean it will this time, but if you have any of the harder trophies, you can cross your fingers.

All purchased DLCs are expected to be transferred as well. However, it will likely need to be redownloaded, as was the case with Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. Either way, it should be a pretty simple transition once you’ve got the PS5 version up and running.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available for the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will debut on May 24, 2024.
