Yesterday we showed a video of the freeform fighting system for the Wii version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance and today we have some tidbits on how the motion controls work in the Playstation 3 version. After speaking with a representative from Activision we learned that SIXAXIS control will be implemented throughout the game. By doing gestures you will be able to throw objects further or jump higher. Remember the teaser trailer of the Playstation 3 game where a player thrusts the controller down? That move is done at the right time to boost each character’s “extreme powers”, which are combo finishers.

During some boss fights the SIXAXIS motion sensing controller turns the fight into a mini game. Take the battle with Ysir, a giant ice monster, to defeat him you need to follow movements with the controller to stab an arrow into Ysir. It sounds like God of War’s system except you’re swinging the controller around.

Compared to the free form fighting system for the Nintendo Wii the motion controls in the Playstation 3 version seem like a lot less. Instead the PS3 motion controls are like an intermediate between the Wii scheme and your standard controller.
