How to Beat Honkai: Star Rail Underground Treasure Hunt

To celebrate the debut of five-star Stellaron Hunter Kafka, HoYoVerse launched the Underground Treasure Hunt in Honkai: Star Rail.  The special event has you revisiting Belobog’s Underworld in search of relics and treasures in the Great Mine. Fortunately, it isn’t too hard to run through these ruins.

How do I start the Honkai: Star Rail Underground Treasure Hunt?

The Underground Treasure Hunt is a limited-time Honkai: Star Rail 1.2 event that runs from August 9, 2023, through August 28, 2023. However, there are a few prerequisites you need to have finished first before you can access it. To unlock the Underground Treasure Hunt, you must at least be Trailblaze Level 24 and have completed the “Silent Galaxy” mission. The story questline is a part of the “In the Sweltering Morning Sun” Trailblaze Mission on Jarilo-VI.

Once you have everything cleared, you will automatically get the Underground Travelogue (Part 1) adventure mission in your Mission menu. Now it’s time to travel underground to Boulder Town on Jarilo-VI, where you will need to talk to Balaway at the Miner’s Lamp. Finally, fast travel to the Great Mine and talk with the miner named Aksay to unlock the Underground Treasure Hunt. The expert treasure hunter will explain the rules of the event and will act as the hub for the Ancient Ruins you need to explore.

How do I beat the Honkai: Star Rail Underground Treasure Hunt?

There are five ruins in the Underground Treasure Hunt event, each with two modes of exploration that need to be cleared. In “Surface Exploration” mode, you travel through eight levels and face off against easier enemies. In comparison, “Deep Exploration” only has six levels but has more difficult enemies and obstacles to clear. A new ruin will open every 24 hours starting on August 9,2023, with the final ruin going live on August 13, 2023.

You will be loaded into a ruin with levels made up of squares. Each square you click can reveal an enemy, stamina provision supplies, an ancient armor, an ancient weapon, or a relic. The goal is to collect as many relics as you can while also searching for the key required to progress to the next level. Sounds easy, right?

Well, any time you perform an action, such as picking up an item, revealing a square, or fighting enemies, you will lose a stamina point. And if you deplete your stamina completely, your team’s health will start to drop until you lose.

Unfortunately, each run of the Underground Treasure Hunt is completely random. This means there is no set path to avoid enemies. That said, it is fairly easy if you have a strong enough team. The best strategy is finding each level’s key as quickly as possible so that you can budget out your stamina points. Even if you haven’t found every relic yet, it’s sometimes better to just move on to the next stage to preserve your stamina bar. Defeating enemies is also helpful as doing so will automatically give you three stamina points back.

Which team should I use?

The Underground Treasure Hunt features enemies of every element type, so there are many team options you can go with. At the start of every level, you can see which enemies will be on the stage to help you choose accordingly. If you have Luocha, he’s easily one of the best units for this mode as his automatic healing ability can rescue your team in a pinch when facing off against tougher enemies deep inside the ruins.

Below is a list of recommended teams for the Honkai: Star Rail Underground Treasure Hunt:

  • Blade / Silver Wolf / Bronya / Luocha.
  • Luocha / Seele / Bronya / Tingyun.
  • Kafka / Sampo / Silver Wolf / Luocha.
  • Dan Heng / Yukong / Trailblazer (Fire) / Natasha.

You will also get a chance to try out various trial characters throughout the event. 5-Star Stellaron Hunter Kafka and Luka are both playable at level 65 starting at Ruin 1. As the Underground Treasure Hunt event goes on, Sampo, Bronya, Gepard, Serval, and Clara will also be temporarily recruitable to your team if you don’t already have them unlocked on your roster.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for PCs and mobile devices, and a PS5 version will arrive in 2023.
