How to Beat the Sea Spider in Armored Core 6

Armored Core 6 may not be a Soulsborne game but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some of the signature challenge FromSoftware is known for. Enter the Chapter 2 boss, IA-13 Sea Spider, which is one of the most difficult early bosses you’ll face in this game. Like some of the other bosses, the Sea Spider fight in Armored Core 6 has two core phases to it. This spider-like mech enemy is swift and deadly, able to maneuver around the battlefield in a way that can lead to some serious game overs. Here’s what you should do.

Tips for Defeating the IA-13 Sea Spider in Armored Core 6 Chapter 2

The first phase should be dedicated to memorizing this fight and what the IA-13 Sea Spider does. This boss will constantly fly up into the air, use some ranged attacks, and then slam into the ground. You have to stay mobile at all times, dodging these attacks and avoiding getting smashed.

What I suggest is to use a mix of ranged and melee attacks. While the Sea Spider is aerial, use your ranged attacks while you dodge its moves. After it slams back down into the ground, move up to it as quickly as possible and slice away with your melee hits.

At around half of its AP, you’ll switch to the second phase of the boss fight. During this phase, there are two new moves to watch out for. First, it will shoot some lasers while in the air now. These lasers are difficult to dodge, so you want to hover as much as possible during this portion.

In addition, it has a massive red laser circle it will send spinning at you. This will chase after you for a bit, so you’ll have to move fast to keep your distance between you and it until it runs out of steam. Other than all of this, the main idea of mixing your ranged and melee attacks remains. The only difference is focusing more on evasion first, attacking second.

When it comes to equipment, you, of course, want the best ranged missiles and melee swords you can buy. For helping with maneuvering, I highly suggest the VP-424 Tetrapod Legs upgrade. This part turns your mech in its own spider form and lets you hover long enough to survive the onslaught in phase two.

Armored Core 6 is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
