How do I catch Terapagos in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk

Note: Full spoilers lie ahead for The Indigo Disk DLC.

First and foremost, you must own The Indigo Disk DLC and have completed both the main stories of the base game and The Teal Mask DLC. From there, you need to continue through the storyline at the Blueberry Academy until you beat the Elite Four and the champion. Once you do this, you will get the chance to return to Area Zero and explore deeper.

Continue on the linear path, defeating any Stellar Tera Type Pokemon along the way until you reach Terapagos at the bottom. Here, you will have to watch some cutscenes and defeat normal Terapagos first before you can catch it. This is a pretty easy fight but that is because the DLC is going to surprise you after the fact.

How do I defeat Terapagos?

After you defeat Terapagos the first time, you’ll soon have another fight with it. This time, it is more like a Tera Raid Battle but without a time limit and more traditional with a double battle. It is extremely tough as Terapagos changes its typing in each phase, which is completely random and can be any of the 18 types. You’ll need to figure out what type it is using and then Terastallize when you get the chance to deal the most damage.

It has four phases in total, with the key always being to figure out its current typing, avoid super effective damage, and Terastallize often for maximum firepower. Use as many items as you need to for winning this fight, which is what I had to do. Also, your attacks will do poor damage if you aren’t Terastallizing, but status effects like poison deal normal damage and are super useful.

Once it is over, you will have the chance to finally catch Terapagos. It is a guaranteed catch so feel free to use whatever Pokeball you want here.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and The Indigo Disk are available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
