How to unlock Fishing in Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes

Oddly enough, fishing in this game isn’t something you learn about naturally through the main story. Technically, you have to go out of your way to unlock the optional feature, so it is possible to play the game a ton and miss out on it. To unlock fishing in Eiyuden Chronicle, you’ll want to wait until after the prologue when the six-month time skip happens.

At this point, you’ll be in the city of Eltisweiss. From here, you want to go to the world map (or wherever you are in the world) and head to Fort Xialuke to go to the northern side of Grum County. Head to the town of Arenside in this region, where you first started the game. Head to the bridge by the river in the screenshot above to speak with Huang, just outside the house where you start the game. He will give you a fishing rod, and you’ll be able to fish now.

How to Fish in Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes

As for how to actually fish in Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes, you’ll need to find a marked body of water in the overworld. There is generally about one of these per overworld region you visit. Go over to it and interact to pull out your fishing rod. Fortunately, the actual minigame is quite easy to do.

One of the fish will tease you and act like it is going to hook onto the rod. Once it actually does, the water will spin around as the fish freaks out. You need to quickly press the interaction button of “A” (Switch/Xbox) or “X” (PlayStation) to reel in the fish. Do it fast enough, and the fish is yours. Note you can only catch a few fish per spot each time you visit. You’ll need to wait some in-game time before the area replenishes its fish supply.

Eiyuden Chronicle is available now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
