How to Get a Blimp Ticket From Don Pianta in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

In order to get to Glitzville and kick off chapter 3 in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, you need to help Mario get a Blimp Ticket from Don Pianta. However, first you need to actually meet with him and do him a favor, which can take some time.

How do I meet Don Pianta and get a Blimp Ticket in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door?

After you finish Chapter 2 and return to Rogueport from Boggly Woods, you’ll learn that you need to get a Blimp Ticket to fly to Glitzville. However, they’re hard to come by, and meeting with Don Pianta is the only guaranteed way to get one. He’s hard to find too!

By this point, you should have access to West Rogueport. Going to his casino and talking to the NPCs within will result in Ishnail in East Rogueport knowing how to get in touch with the don. You can head that way, use Paper Mode to get through the gaps between buildings, and find the thieves’ den. Ishnail will charge you 64 coins for the information.

However, you may want to also check if you can just… skip that. When I went to Ishnail, the tief told me that you need to buy a 2 coin Dried Mushroom, then a 12 coin Dizzy Dial from the shop run by a Boo with cat ears next to the casino. The Boo will then ask questions. The first is about Mario’s mustache color, and the second is your favorite color. To be safe, I answered yellow to both. The ghost will then recognize you as a friend of Don Pianta and open the door at the back of the shop.

Go through it, then up the stairs to Don Pianta’s office. When you talk to him, he’ll explain to Mario that his daughter Francesca ran away with Frankie, one of his minions. They’re at the docks in Rogueport, which you find by heading south from the main square with the inn and item shop. Go talk to the two of them. You can decide if you’ll keep their secret or squeal.

Return to Don Pianta. I chose to keep their secret, then stalled and said I couldn’t say where they were when going back to the don. Francesca and Frankie will then return, and you’ll see an event involving the two of them. After it is done, Mario can talk to Don Pianta to get the Blimp Ticket to Glitzville in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is available for the Nintendo Switch. It originally appeared on the GameCube.
