How to Get More Crew Member Slots in Starfield

Starfield features a wondrous galaxy full of planets and solar systems to explore. You might not want to do that fully by yourself, though, which is where your crew members come into play. You can assign various crew members and even companions to your ship. But it starts so limited that you might want to add more crew members slots in Starfield.

How to Add More Crew Members to Your Ships in Starfield

When you first start Starfield, your initial ship will be the Frontier. This ship only has room for up to two crew members in total and that’s it. That is a paltry amount considering you’ll already have Vasco on your team and you can go about recruiting others like Sam Coe, Sarah Morgan, Barrett, Andreja, the Adoring Fan, and many more.

You’ll reach that limit of two crew members quite fast, but there are a couple of ways to add more crew member slots in this game. The first is a rather simple one, and that is to upgrade or buy a new ship. You can do this at any major spaceport or city by speaking with the ship technician near where you land.

This person gives you the option to upgrade your ship to have more space using various parts you buy or purchase an entirely new ship. These larger ships can hold more crew but they’ll cost a bit of money and may require a license using the Piloting skill.

The other way to get more crew member slots is to unlock the Ship Command skill. This skill allows you to increase your crew members naturally to four, five, six, and eventually eight members in total. Add this with the larger ships you can get in the game and you’ll suddenly a much more populated vessel to fly around in.

Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X and PC.
