Fervour will allow you to deal damage by using Prayers as attacks in Blasphemous 2. However, you will inevitably face your demise in the game. This will take a toll on the Penitent One’s spirit and, of course, Fervour, which will fill him with Guilt. How can we release ourselves from the burden of Guilt in Blasphemous 2? Well, it depends.
My Fervour is Blocked, What Can I Do?
Below your Health meter, in the top left corner of your HUD, you will find your Fervour meter in Blasphemous 2. This will determine your ability to perform different Prayers, such as Quick Verses and Chants. Each of them will use a bit of your Fervour, and you gain Fervour by masterfully killing monstrous enemies in the name of the Penitent One’s deity. However, if you perish during your journey, your Fervour meter will be corrupted and limited, limiting the number of Prayers you can, well, pray.
This is the Guilt doing its thing. So, to get rid of it, you will have to travel to the location where you perished. You can find the exact room on your map, marked as a red Martyrdom symbol.
You will find a glowing prison with a soul-like figure trapped inside it. Interact with it to get rid of your Guilt, and restore your Fervour meter in Blasphemous 2. This is reminiscent of the Souls franchise. However, there are some caveats to this mechanic.
If you happen to die multiple times without restoring your Fervour, your meter will become permanently corrupted by guilt. Don’t worry, as you still have the chance to get rid of that. Travel to the City of the Blessed Name and you will find an entrance with a red carpet.
Inside, you will meet a priest who will absolve you of your guilt in exchange for some Tears of Atonement. This will cost you 200 initially, and its price will become increasingly expensive, reaching 2,000 Tears of Atonement. Keep fighting enemies to collect these Tears.
Blasphemous 2Â is available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
