How do I get The Navigator in Destiny 2?

To get The Navigator in Destiny 2, you need to complete the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, as any skeptical Destiny 2 player knows by now, Bungie never makes it easy to obtain dungeon-based Exotics, and The Navigator is no exception. Unfortunately, the powerful Strand Trace Rifle has a drop rate of around just 5%, so it’s completely up to random luck.

Because you are only able to complete the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon once per week before the weekly reset, the odds of the Exotic dropping for you is is extremely slim. Another hurdle to getting the weapon is that Ghosts of the Deep is actually locked behind a paywall. You will need to purchase a Lightfall Dungeon key for 2,000 Silver in the Destiny 2 store. Players who already paid for the Lightfall Annual Pass edition will automatically get access to the underwater dungeon.

To start your quest to obtain The Navigator, you will need to visit Hawthorne at the Tower to pick up the “Rise” quest. Next, go to the Director while in Orbit and head to the H.E.L.M. You will now be able to access Ghosts of the Deep, which is a three-person fireteam Dungeon with a Recommended Power level of 1,790. The Navigator won’t actually have a chance of dropping until you have completed the entire dungeon, which consists of three boss encounters.

How do I increase The Navigator drop rate in Destiny 2?

If you are unhappy with the low base drop rate for The Navigator, Bungie has given you a couple of options for increasing your odds. While running through Ghosts of the Deep, there are hidden audio logs that can be found scattered across the dungeon. If you collect all of them, your drop rate will become permanently increased. There are also additional triumphs that can be completed to boost your odds of getting the Season of the Deep Exotic.

Here is the list of the Ghosts of the Deep triumphs that increase The Navigator drop rate in Destiny 2:

  • In Memoriam: Find and listen to each memory of Darkness throughout the Ghosts of the Deep (+1 drop rate increase).
  • Sovereign: Complete the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon on Master Difficulty (+1 drop rate increase).
  • Alone in the Deep: Complete all encounters in the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon solo without leaving the activity (+1 drop rate increase).
  • Deny Death (Flawless run): Complete the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon without anyone on your Fireteam dying (+1 drop rate increase).
  • King of the Deep (Solo Flawless run): Complete the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon without dying (+2 drop rate increase).

Those really set on obtaining The Navigator can increase their odds further by having multiple characters. You can run the dungeon three times per week by using each of the three save files the game allows you. However, your chances of getting the Exotic comes down to luck. The only sure way to get the Trace Rifle is to keep running the Ghosts of the Deep.

Destiny 2 is available now on the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
