How do I Save in Stellar Blade?

To save in Stellar Blade, you must rest on a chair in a camp location. Unfortunately, this is the only way to manually save your progress in the game. If you spent the first hour of the story confused about how this works, that is completely understandable. After all, the camp tutorial doesn’t explain saving at all.

Here are the steps to save in Stellar Blade:

  • While exploring a level, find a camp location.
  • Activate the camp by interacting with the Vending Machine.
  • With the camp now active, look for the chair that is next to the cooking fire.
  • Press “R2” to “Rest” on the chair. EVE will now sit down.
  • Wait a few seconds, and then your game will automatically save after EVE has been healed.

The trickiest part of saving in Stellar Blade is finding a camp location, as these resting spots can sometimes be spread far apart on a map. Once you see a Vending Machine, walk up to it and press “R2” to activate the camp. You will now be able to access a chair that EVE can rest on.

Walk up to the chair and press “R2” to use the “rest” option. EVE will sit down, and her health will then be fully healed. After your HP is filled up, you will notice a tiny “saving” text on the lower-left-hand corner of your screen. This can be difficult to miss at first.

There isn’t another way to save in Stellar Blade, so your game will send you back to the last camp you’ve rested at if you die. So make sure to save as often as possible!

How to Load a Previous Save in Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade does not have multiple save slots, which means you only have a single save file that is constantly being updated as you progress the story. This is less than ideal if you find yourself in a situation where you missed a rare item in a dungeon, or get stuck in the game.

Thankfully, you can load a previous save in Stellar Blade by using a reset feature that is kind of hidden in your menu. Here is how you can load a save:

  • Pause your game and press “L1” or “R1” to tab over to the “Settings” menu.
  • In “Gameplay,” select the “Restart from Last Save” option at the very bottom of the list.
  • A prompt will pop up warning you that your current save will be lost. Click “yes” if you want to load a previous save.
  • Your game will now revert to the last time you saved previously.

Be careful with this feature, though. As I stated above, your current save file will be wiped. You should only use “restart from Last Save” as a final resort. For instance, the game has a “point of no return” moment towards the end of the campaign. So, if you want to load an older save before that, then you can. Although Stellar Blade only keeps your previous save and nothing else before it. For more tips on the Shift Up RPG, check out our How to Reset Skill Tree in Stellar Blade guide.
