How to Solve ‘The Late Riser’ in Octopath Traveler 2

“The Late Riser” side story in Octopath Traveler 2 is one of those tricky ones, because it seems like it should have an easy solution! Help a guy get to sleep, so he can get to work on time! However, the key to actually completing it involves ensuring he’s put to bed at a time which involves him actually waking up when he needs to.

Once you first walk into Tropu’hopu, you’ll see a Master Fisherman talking to a Sleepy Fisherman. The Sleepy one can’t get up on time, and your goal is to do something to make sure he will for the next day. Now, you’d be tempted to think, “Okay, I’ll have Throne “ambush” him at night.”

While that will trigger a sequence of events in “The Late Riser” in Octopath Traveler 2 and you’ll be thanked for putting him to sleep, it won’t work. The story segment will she he’s still asleep when it comes time to set off.

What you need to do is have someone who can knock him out during the day do so. In my case, I ended up having Ochette “Provoke” him. (He’s vulnerable to bow and sword damage. Use Akala and you’ll be fine.)

Since he fell asleep during the day, during the ensuing sequence he’ll arrive right on time for work. You’ll then get 4,800 leaves and a Slippery Nut (M) for finishing “The Late Riser” in Octopath Traveler 2.
