Unlike most Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy XVI offers an Arcade Mode and Stage Replay feature. You could use these to challenge yourself or build up Clive. However, both aren’t immediately available. You need to get accustomed to the world first. Fortunately, you can’t miss unlocking both features.
How to unlock Arcade Mode and Stage Replay in Final Fantasy XVI
Honestly, I felt like Square Enix waiting until you had a few stages to actually “play” before making Arcade Mode and Stage Replay open up during Final Fantasy XVI. Both become available as Clive, Cid, and Torgal are going through the “Fanning Embers” mainline quest. After a boss fight before leaving the forest and going to Orabelle Downs, you’ll get an automatic message saying both are now available.
Once both are unlocked, head to the Arete Stone in the hideaway. They’ll appear as options alongside the Training mode that appeared when the stone “unlocked” during the quest “Hide, Hideaway.”
If at any time you want to test yourself, you can always fast travel to the hideaway, walk up to the Arete Stone, and go through anything you’ve unlocked. The stone will have a “+” sign on its icon when new challenges are available.
Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
