How to Unlock The Howling Eye in FFXIV

Both The Bowl of Embers and The Navel are part of FFXIV‘s Main Scenario Quest. But that isn’t all, as The Howling Eye is also included. Like previous Trials in A Realm Reborn, this fight will have unique mechanics players must follow to emerge victorious. Additionally, players will not need to reach a specific item level in order to tackle this fight.

But there are a couple of prerequisites that we’ve listed below:

  • Level 44.
  • Accept the quest ” Lady of the Vortex”

To unlock The Howling Eye, you simply need to get to the point in the Main Scenario Quest to accept “Lady of the Vortex.” Gardua will be your final opponent before you begin to tackle the Garlean threat in A Realm Reborn. Her fight is similar to Titan and Ifrit’s in that you must follow specific mechanics not to wipe. While more generous than it was in A Realm Reborn, here are some tips to get you through the worst of the storm.

If you are Tanking, face Garuda away from the party. She will cleave and potentially hit Melee DPS if she isn’t positioned well. Alongside this, she will cast a skill that will hit the entire arena if you’re not hiding behind any one of the four pillars of stone. These can be destroyed, so when she summons her plumes, take them out ASAP. After that, she’ll hit a phase change where you will want to be in the eye of the storm to avoid taking any excess damage.

Thankfully, she goes down pretty easily. And after beating The Howling Eye once it will unlock for your Trial and Leveling Roulettes.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Dawntrail expansion will release in Summer 2024.
