Cover Corp. and Besto Game Team announced that Idol Showdown, the fan-made fighting game featuring Hololive Vtubers as playable characters, will join the Holo Indie label. The team also shared a message concerning the future of the game and announced more news would arrive at EVO Japan later in 2024.
Despite the Holo Indie label allowing the creators of fan-games to profit from their work, Besto Game Team stated that Idol Showdown will “remain completely free and always will be.” However, joining the label will allow the developers to work closer with Cover and Hololive itself. The new trailer also teases a new character coming to the game, with more details to be revealed during EVO Japan in April, 2024.

Cover Corp, who own the Hololive agency, previously shared their goals for the Holo Indie initiative. It allows fan game developers to work with Cover and earn money from their projects. Meanwhile, fans of Hololive English vtubers FUWAMOCO from the Advent group have been swarming the Akihabara Mister Donut after the duo posted a photo of their visit to the establishment.
Idol Showdown is immediately available to play for free via Steam, now under the Holo Indie brand. More information about the upcoming Next Fes title update is due to appear at EVO Japan, which will take place over 27-29 April, 2024.
