Idola Phantasy Star Saga Will Shut Down in January in Japan

Idola Phantasy Star Saga’s days are numbered in Japan, as the game will shut down on January 12, 2022. Sega announced the closure on October 30, 2021 on Twitter and the official site. It then prevented the purchase of paid currency on October 31, 2021.

This only applies to the Japanese version of the game. Sega thanked players and apologized for the Idola Phantasy Star Saga shut down. It also confirmed that while people can’t buy Star Diamonds anymore, they still can register and play. It also noted that it will allow people to ask for refunds when the game closes on January 12, 2022.

Boltrend, the company handling the Idola Phantasy Star Saga global release, didn’t release any comment following Sega’s announcement. However, updates still appear regularly for that version. In October 2021, the game celebrated its first anniversary. The Witch From the Empire of Leo Gelda appeared in the game as part of it. People also ended up getting a free guaranteed five-star episode two character.

Idola Phantasy Star Saga will be shut down in Japan on January 12, 2022. It began service in the region in 2018. It is currently available on Android and Apple iOS devices worldwide. Boltrend didn’t detail how the closure will affect the global version of the RPG.
