Banpresto has a unique DS game coming out next week that has little attention. Before you read about Custom Beat Battle: Draglade forget what you know about Def Jam Icon. Like EA’s title Banpresto’s game mashes the rhythm/music and fighting genres together, but there is more going on than interacting with the background music. Players build their fighter by selecting what element (fire, water, earth, lightning, etc.) they want and create their own KoroKoro combo where you have to press buttons at the right time to do damage. It’s sort of like Konami’s Bemani system, except that it’s integrated into the combat engine. There are few original fighting games out there so I’m thinking that this is worth checking out when it comes out on May 17.
