A theatre troupe is looking to become the premier show in town, but with a constant slew of enraged, garbage-throwing audiences, that will be difficult in rhythm game The Rainsdowne Players: Opening Night.
Players will have to help the theatre troupe perform by keeping them safe from hurled bottles and other debris, tapping the dodge button in time to the objects that are coming for their heads. This junk has a tendency to bounce in odd ways, so players will want to be ready to duck to the beat of the music in some unexpected ways.
Performance is only half of the battle, though. Between plays, players can talk to people, cats, and patrons of the theatre, collecting cards of inspirations that can be put together into plays. Players will need to pick the right inspirations to impress pickier members of the audience, so if they wish to succeed, they’ll need to come up with just the right performances.
The first chapter of The Rainsdowne Players, Opening Night, is available to try for free on Itch.io. The developer is looking to expand the concept into further chapters, and is currently raising votes on Greenlight for a Steam release.
