FFVII Remake Rude

In One FFVII Remake Fight, Rude Wasn’t Giving His All

In Final Fantasy VII, Rude isn’t the leader of Shinra Company Special Investigative Unit The Turks, but he’s the toughest and most powerful of them. A new post from the official account of the FFVII Remake dropped some concept art of the character, alongside some trivia about his encounter with Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough in the game. Rude is voiced in English by William C. Stephens, who also voices Maine in Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Jax in Mortal Kombat 11, and Shiva in Shin Megami Tensei V. He’s voiced in Japanese by Taiten Kusunoki, who voices Kamunabi in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Rock Bison in Tiger & Bunny, and Yodaka in Relayer.

In the post, Rude is introduced “Turk No.1 in Toughness and Power”. The post also elaborates on a mini-boss encounter that takes place in FFVII Remake, pitting Rude against Cloud and Aerith. According to the post, during his fight with Cloud and Aerith, Rude “recognizes” Cloud as “dangerous,” since Cloud managed to defeat his partner Reno in combat earlier. However, Rude’s orders did not include actually defeating Cloud, and as such the Turk was “only fighting at about 70 or 80 percent.”

In FFVII Remake, Rude is seen in the Sector 5 Slums at the head of a Shinra search team pursuing Aerith. Cloud, who is acting as Aerith’s bodyguard, is escorting her home after escaping the Sector 5 church, where Cloud fell after Avalanche’s attempt to bomb Mako Reactor No.5. Cloud and Aerith encounter Rude blocking their way home, and Rude challenges the pair to a match. During the fight, the pair manage to break Rude’s shades, after which he puts on a spare pair. Rude is then called away on urgent duty by Reno, and abandons the fight.

FFVII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC.
