Infinity Game Boy Color RPG Gets A Playable Preview

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

15 years ago, Affinix attempted to make Infinity, an RPG for the Game Boy Color. As the years passed, work on the project continued off-and-on, before an official notice saying the product and company was defunct appeared on February 1, 2007. Now, on August 13, 2016, the 90% complete ROM file for Infinity and its source code have been released.

Infinity, as-is, is essentially a preview with a definite stopping point. It is playable on emulators. While Affinix does hope to eventually finish development, it has included the source code in the event someone could assist in the development process or port it to another platform for non-commercial purposes.

In addition to the Infinity ROM release, Affinix has provided a 2016 trailer. It offers a look at one of the game’s towns, shows off dungeon exploration, and provides a peek at the turn-based battle system.

Infinity is a 356kb download. Affinix recommends playing it via the RetroArch or OpenEmu (with Gambatte core) emulators.
