Introversion’s next project: Multiwinia

If you’re familiar with Introversion’s works you probably have a good guess of what Multiwinia is. Multiwinia is a multiplayer of Darwinia, which was just re-relased on Vista. Darwinia is a hard game to describe because there is nothing else like it. In the game players guide the evolving fractal life forms to safety and fight on coming viruses. John Knottenbelt, the lead designer of Multiwinia explains what’s new compared to Darwinia, “We’ve created a new formation mode which will let you organise your Darwinians into ranks to create massive armies. In formation they’ll have greater firepower in the direction they’re facing, but virtually none from either sides or behind. It’s going to get pretty messy, requiring a whole new set of tactical skills from the gamer.” Darwinia has also been rumored to be an Xbox Live Arcade title and the Multiwinia version seems like a perfect fit for the 360.
