What is MultiVersus Maintenance? How to Play MultiVersus Online

After years of anticipation, MultiVersus has finally launched on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, many users have reported getting the dreaded MultiVersus Maintenance message when trying to log in. As a result, they are not able to play the game at launch. MultiVersus Maintenance means the game has been taken offline and is being worked on.

According to developer Player First Games, the online multiplayer was purposely put into emergency maintenance during its launch so a specific issue could be fixed. On the official MultiVersus social media account, they stated: “We need to make a quick change on the backend. You will receive an error, but just jump back in!”

So, while MultiVersus was down for a few hours at launch, developer Player First Games claims the multiplayer is now playable even if you receive the “maintenance” error. So, if you want to play MultiVersus online, ignore the error and just keep trying to log in, and you should eventually be able to connect.

How to Check MultiVersus Server Status

At the time of writing, there is no official bot or site that keeps track of the MultiVersus server status. However, if you want to check whether the game is down or not, follow the official MultiVersus Social Media account, which gives hourly updates.

Despite the game being back up, many players are reporting poor performance. Some have even said they are being paired off with “bots” instead of other players in the online mode. So, if you are looking at jumping into MultiVersus, you may have to wait a day or two until things settle down. At least at launch, the game seemingly has many performance issues due to a lot of players trying to access it at the same time.

MultiVersus is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
