Namco Bandai is throwing Shinya Arino (remember Game Center CX?) and Masaru Hamaguchi, better known together as the comedic group Yoiko, on a deserted island in Tottadoo! Yoiko no Mujintou Seikatsu (Tottadoo! Yoiko’s Uninhabited Island Life). Surviving on a deserted island on the Nintendo DS really translates into touch screen mini games. You have to help Yoiko catch fish, cook and try to escape by on a log raft. Given the lack of international exposure I doubt this is going to rank very high on import lists, but if you are searching for a wacky mini-game collection this comes out on April 3rd (read: today).
Recently, Namco Bandai has been pulling various Japanese celebrities into games instead of developing original characters. I suppose a US equivalent would be a game starring David Letterman collecting items for top ten lists or a Stephen Colbert mini game collection where he tries to run for president. Actually, why don’t we have more Western celebrities star in games besides 50 Cent and Britney Spears? Would you buy a game with Jon Stewart or Jerry Seinfeld as the main character?
