Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Blu-ray and DVD Release Date Announced

The popular Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie is getting a physical release. Studio MAPPA announced that the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Blu-ray and DVD release date will fall on September 21, 2022. Both versions of the movie will include English subtitles as a standard. A Special Edition box set will also include bonus content such as an audio commentary track, booklets, a voiced comic, and live footage of the movie’s first viewing. The standard Blu-ray version will cost ¥5,280 (about $40) and the DVD version will cost ¥4,180 (about $32).

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a movie based on the first Jujutsu Kaisen manga serialized in 2017. Creator Gege Akutami later renamed the manga to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 after the official launch of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. The events of both the manga and movie predate the events of the main story, making it a prequel. The movie debuted in Japanese theatres in 2021 and garnered significant attention. Within 11 days of release, it became the second-fastest grossing movie in Japan behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen TrainJujutsu Kaisen 0 has since grossed over 10 billion yen in Japan.

Both the DVD and Blu-ray versions will be available as standard individual purchases and in a Special Edition box set. The movie will only be available with Japanese audio but will come with Japanese and English subtitle options. The Special Edition will additionally feature box art and a digipak illustrated by animator Tadashi Hiramatsu. Orders from retailers will include other merchandise such as acrylic stands, teddy bears, towels, and posters.

Furthermore, the Special Edition will include two booklets. One booklet will feature key visuals and other promotional art, while the other will include “making of” content such as re-published and newly released interviews. Notably, the boxed set also includes a voiced comic of the 9-page Jujutsu Kaisen 0.5 manga that was distributed to theatergoers. Finally, fans will also get to see the movie’s actors appear in live recordings of two Jujutsu Kaisen stage greeting events.
