Kentaro Hisai introduces Spectrobes to the world

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

At the Spectrobes event Kentaro Hisai, the producer of Spectrobes, flew over from Japan to talk about the title to the group of lucky Gauer elementary school students. He introduces the card input system where you place cards with holes over the DS’ touch screen and poke holes in a sequence to unlock new creatures. Where did the idea for the card input system come from? Hisai-san explained to me that the concept came from two ideas. They were coming up with original ideas on how to use the touch screen and they also wanted to involve cards. However, they didn’t want to have a separate reader just for the DS. Hisai-san also answered a question about the character designs, which are a fusion between traditional Japanese art and modern manga style artwork.
