New to PlayStation Vita is the side-scrolling action platformer Kick & Fennick. You can get it free if you’re a PlayStation Plus member. Otherwise it’ll set you back $7.99 on the PlayStation Store.
Kick & Fennick is about a little boy called Kick who has a very big gun. He uses it as a weapon and a tool in the game. Being a huge rifle, it can put down large robots fairly easily when shot, but it has a lot of kickback (hence the name Kick, presumably) that leaves Kick vulnerable. However, this kickback is how Kick also manages to jump over big gaps, using it to propel himself into the air.
Why would he need to do this? Well, Kick wakes up in the game’s colorful but desolate world and soon gets himself into trouble with a guard robot. Luckily, a small flying robot called Fennick turns up and saves him. However, Fennick’s battery is broken after the ordeal. This is when the pair set off to find the Core Tower so that Fennick can get a new energy core.
What follows is 45 levels of leaping across collapsing skyscrapers, running across treadmills and bouncy pads, and running away from more guard robots using magnets and teleports to their advantage.
