Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Hangs Out With K.K. Slider In New Animal Crossing: New Leaf Ad

Nintendo posted a new advertisement for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on their Japanese YouTube channel earlier this week. The ad debuted just over two weeks after the game’s second year anniversary on June 9, 2015, and features Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, a Japanese pop star that rose to fame in 2011.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu also starred in a Japanese commercial for the New Nintendo 3DS back in September of last year, about a week before the handheld launched in Japan. The commercial showcased a variety of new faceplates for Nintendo’s “new” handheld inspired by the company’s most famous characters. Another ad featuring the pop star, released in November, showcased not only Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but other older titles like Super Mario 3D Land and Yoshi’s New Island.
