Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei’s Relationships Lead To Skills

After a certain point in Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei, players get a chance to bond with their fellow party members. People get to know their allies, making everyone more powerful in the process. But, it’s important to pay attention to who you talk to and make bonds with as you play, because it determines which additional skill you can learn for characters.

Every party member in Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei has a series of question marks at the top of their skills menu. There’s no hint as to what this means or why. You’re not told what this could end up leading to. Don’t worry, as it isn’t some big secret. It’s the skill you’ll get after the nineteenth scenario, when one of your party members confessions their affection and expresses their devotion for Ares. Both Ares and that partner will get the special skill at that point.

First, you want to do your best to make sure the characters have the highest opinion of Ares possible. Fighting next to him in battle will help improve their relationship. However, the best method is to make every between-battle conversation count. Keep the volume up, listen for the chime that signifies the right answer, and maybe even pay the 10 points every once in a while to get the advice that will guarantee you the best answer.

Then, you’ll want to keep in mind your character’s strengths and weaknesses. My Ares was a mage. I paired him up with Maiya, a fellow mage. Once she made her confession of love to him at the nineteenth scenario, both received a skill that let them each recover three MP every turn. Though, the power of multiple saves also let me see that Jessica, a light route companion, has a helpful skill that adds +2 damage to magic attacks either of you dish out.

This means someone with an Ares that’s a warrior may want to seek out other relationships. Take Mariel as an example. She’s a defensive unit, and her skill would boost both of your defense stats even higher. Getting close to Noemi is a good idea too, since her skill boosts critical rates.

Don’t let that deter you from pursuing a partnership with the character you like best in Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei. With the way skills are set up, most work well with every Ares build. There are some that allow you to hire more mercenaries, have a higher attack or defense stat, alter movement movement, increase terrain effects, or increase recovery. The game is set up in such a way that you’ll always benefit from any relationship you pursue. Plus, this ability carries over to a New Game+ save file. So someone who decides to go through Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei a second or third time, to see all three routes, will be rather established.

Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei is immediately available for the Nintendo 3DS.
