In late 2006 InXile, the company who developed the Bard’s Tale, picked up the rights to make a console version of Line Rider. The Wii/DS versions were supposed to arrive last year, but it never came out. The project still is in development and has an unlikely ally, The Weinstein Company. Genius Products LLC is acting as the publisher, which is jointly owned by Genius Products Incorporated and The Weinstein Company. The duo plans to release Line Rider with 40 puzzles created by TechDawg (the top Line Rider) this summer.
Line Rider will not be the only game published by Genius Products. They have plans to “offer a number of new game titles in 2008 across a variety of gaming genres.” No other titles have been announced, but Genius Products distributes IFC branded movies, Asian Cinema and Sesame Street products. The Weinstein Company has some interesting ties too like a suite of Kevin Smith movies. I doubt we’re going to see a Clerks video game in the future, but if someone was going to publish it I suppose Genius Products would be a prime candidate.
