Hardware maker Logitech has officially revealed its new handheld console: The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld. The device is focused on facilitating cloud-based game streaming through services like Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Logitech previously teased the device as part of an announcement involving its partnership with Tencent to build the device.
At the time, though, there were no images or videos of the hardware in action. Logitech’s teaser shows off the finalized device (or something close to it).
The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld features a touch screen with a 1080p resolution, as well as face buttons, dual analog sticks, two triggers, and two shoulder buttons. The button assignments are remappable and have haptic feedback. It’s also relatively lightweight, weighing 463 grams (about 1.02 lbs). For comparison, a standard Nintendo Switch weighs 398 grams (about 0.88 lbs), and a Steam Deck weighs 669 grams (about 1.5 lbs).
The innards of the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld are based on those of mobile devices. It uses an octa-core Snapdragon 720G (similar to that in a Samsung Galaxy A52). It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable via MicroSD card. Logitech says that the battery will last up to 12 hours and recharge in 2.5 hours via USB-C. It has stereo speakers and a stereo microphone. It supports Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C headphones, and, unlike many newer smartphones, maintains a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As for games, the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld has native support for both GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming (currently in beta). Players with their own gaming PCs or Xbox consoles can use Steam Link and the Xbox app for Remote Play, too. It was not mentioned if the device will support the PlayStation 4/5 Remote Play app, though. Finally, players can download apps from the Google Play store, too. This opens up nominal support for Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, Android games, and streaming video service apps like YouTube and Netflix.
The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld device is priced at $350 USD in the United States and $400 CAD in Canada. Pre-orders are open, though there is no official release date.
