Mages Publishing A Super Cute Idol Rhythm Game For 3DS

Alchemist has previously worked on rail-shooters, visual novels, and fashion games, but now, they’re working on a rhythm game for Mages (5pb.), featuring a cute magical girl with the power of singing and dancing for Nintendo 3DS. Director Shigenobu Urano originally hinted at this title back in January.

In Magic☆Idol Collection, the citizens of the Land of Magic have their hearts frozen, and it’s up to the protagonist, Plum Hoshikawa, to thaw them out with her magically warm singing and dancing.

Plum dreams of becoming an idol, and the night before her final audition, she prays for her best before going to sleep; however, she wakes up only to find herself in an unknown world—the Land of Magic.

This place was once a peaceful land, but the evil witch of the North froze the hearts of all its citizens, which only lead to the land’s magic getting weaker over time. The Land of Magic can only be saved by a girl with huge dreams and hopes, which is none other than Plum.

Kururu is the familiar of Queen Lily. She’ll help navigate around the Land of Magic.

Maestro is the go-getter producer, who’ll help make a splendid stage for Plum to sing and perform.

And finally, Osha-P is another producer, who will be in charge of dressing up Plum with his keen fashion sense.

While Magic☆Idol Collection is a rhythm game, it also has its fair share of interactions, as you’ll also play as Plum to walk around the lands to go through various events, talk to different citizens, and fix hearts.

The citizens of the Land of Magic will drop hints and occasionally hook you up with items. Again, in order to make your costumes and the performance stage, you’ll need to find material in town, or even acquire them through gardening.

The rhythm-part of the game is actually pretty simple, as you have to touch and time the icons with their respective buttons along with some catchy tunes. Again, stage backgrounds, costumes, and hairstyles can be customized for different looks.

Magic☆Idol Collection is slated for release in Japan on November 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.
