Mario Kart Wii tournaments tweak race tracks

A neat feature Nintendo just announced for Mario Kart Wii is rotating online tournaments on the Mario Kart Channel every few weeks. Players can match their tournament time against the world, which should add a decent amount of replay value to Mario Kart Wii.

Currently, the tournament has players drive on Mario Circuit, but there is a slight change. The chain chomps are no longer bound to posts. They run on the track in reverse, which presents a new obstacle for players to worry about. In the future Nintendo will have tournaments with other restrictions like racing with a specific character, collecting coins or racing with a specific control setup.

I better start practicing with the Wii Wheel…
